1/1/2023 0 Comments Eye of the beholder video gameIt's time for something crazy, so I started Borderlands 2. I'm glad to have played it and it was mostly fun, but I'm done. There is one optional boss that I haven't defeated, but I just can't be bothered anymore. I now declare Final Fantasy XIII finished. As long as everyone got to dish out crazy amounts of damage! I don't think I've ever won a game of King of Tokyo, but then, in all honesty no-one ever cares who wins. High damage game, everyone was enertained and Cyber Bunny (me) was a sad Bunny again. launched a final, massive attack sweep and wiped three players out in one go. would have won, because he had been able to trigger Armageddon for 9 points and was only 4 points short, which he would have been able to buy from the market. She wiped the table with 2 remaining Hitpoints. This week the honour went to S., our new player at the table. Impressions: The Queen is dead, long live the Queen! When I wrote about our last game session, I mentioned that K. But if you're unsure, just don't click to enlarge. I don't consider the picture below a spoiler, as you cannot read anything. So Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon it was. Or stumble around the island, trying not to die, depending on who you ask. On Sunday we finally wanted to continue our quest to save Avalon. In the end, his blocking was a tiny bit better than mine and I lost with 17-something against his 18-something score.Ĭhallenge Progress: Flavour of the Week, Diversity, Mechanics hadn't hate-picked the bank, I wouldn't have had to hate draft "his" quest and he wouldn't have blocked the next money spot and so on and so forth. The last two turns were an exercise in the two of us hate-drafting each other out of the competition, wherever possible. It also zips along at a very good pace, because no action is particularly complicated, it's usually some variation of "I take x cubes of some color or money." (Which is also cubes in different format, if you think about it for a second.)Īnd despite it all being pretty simple and being a Euro game of collecting cubes to exchange for Victory Points - it is a pretty interactive game. You never know what buildings come out, what quests are in the display and consequently this game is more tactical than strategic, although a bit of planning ahead is also necessary to be competitive. Yes, it does nothing that I would call innovative, but it always feels fresh and dynamic. But then, it is also firmly in the BGG Top 100 games. Impressions: I know that this game often gets some backlash, because it is pretty simple and standard fare. Moment: I was in the lead all game long - just to be caught in the very last action of the very last round. Moment: Snatching away that lucrative 25 pts. Elevator Pitch: Bare-bones, but competent worker placement with a pasted on theme.
